Andrew Lee A big shout out to Swift’s Attic for an incredible introduction to their new Executive Chef Nay Castillo. If you’re looking for flavors that pop with clear identity, Chef Castillo puts a lot of dimensions (sweet, sour, bitter, cold, crunchy, hot, melty, crispy) in each of the dishes. The big test was whether my wife’s sophisticated palate would enjoy it, and it’s a testament that we walked away a happy and very full family. What an amazing dinner and service! Our favorites were the hamachi crudo, lamb pops, and fried chicken. My son demolished the edamame with multi-salts and pop rocks. We had an amazing time. Go check out Swift’s Attic and Chef Castillo’s new menu!

Avant Search This was our first time there so Ill try to be as detailed as possible. This is a nicely organized breakfast and lunch place with spaciously placed tables and modern decor. Well organized and friendly staff. We were served by Ali, were greeted by Lalo (manager) and had a friendly interaction with Jaime (busboy) as well. The food was meticulously prepared. Their signature beer biscuits are wonderful. We also had the turkey bacon club sandwich, a chicken croissant, and also ordered what they call a “garden of vegetables” with scrambled eggs and grilled sweet potatoes. There was a wide variety of desserts. We picked out a few to go. This is a family friendly place. I rate this place a 10 out of 10. The pictures were all taken by us with permission from the staff.

Francisco Briseño Great place to get a bite to eat. A little off the beat path but worth the effort to find. Try the shrimp boil appetizer. There was no need for condiments, very flavourful on its own. We had the seafood platter. Fried to perfection and still able to distinguish fish, shrimp, crayfish tails, and scallops.

Those are your choices. Wildcatter’s isn’t just a place—it’s an institution. It’s the only place in town where you can bowl, drink, play pool, eat fried food, and let your kids loose in the arcade without having to pack them a survival kit. It’s half Chuck E. Cheese, half blue-collar dive bar, and somehow, it works. The Food: A Love-Hate Relationship Let’s talk about my chicken-fried steak. Now, in Texas, this dish is sacred. A proper chicken-fried steak should be a slab of juicy beef hidden under a mountain of crispy, seasoned batter. What I got? More batter than beef. If this steak were a person, it’d be a guy who skips leg day every damn week. All upper body, no foundation. But you know what? I still ate every bite because it was salty, crispy, and hit that deep-fried comfort zone. The fries? They were straight out of a freezer bag, and I could tell. But then there’s the bar & grill, where the real action happens. This is where the refinery guys clock out, pile in, and shake off the day’s stress with a beer and a few games of pool. It’s got that perfect mix of small-town charm and "we don’t give a damn" energy. The liquor selection isn’t massive, but it gets the job done—just like the people drinking it. Final Verdict: This is Where the Story Starts Wildcatter’s isn’t just a bar. It’s not just a bowling alley. It’s Borger’s social hub, the only place in town where refinery workers, families, and local weirdos all exist under the same roof without incident. The food isn’t gourmet, but it doesn’t need to be.
