Old 290 Brewery & Restaurant - (Near Johnson City, TX)

1 /5 Kat Sanchez: What a horrible anniversary dinner experience. Got to restaurant about 5:30 pm only 4 other tables seated so they were not busy. Our server John acted like he didn’t want to be working. The beer was good, we ordered pretzel bites… they were burnt and hard as golf balls. Soaking them in the cheese sauce didn’t even soften them up. My husband ordered the filet- medium rare came out medium/medium well. I ordered the NY strip medium and it was rare with a cool purple center. I did send that back because I cannot eat it that way. When I got it back I only got the one piece of it back and it was medium rare. My husband and I ended up just switch but seriously. Never saw server again….no drink refills…nothing. The Brussels sprouts were soggy and drenched in sauce and the mashed potatoes were sticky and definitely not made today. The best part of the whole meal was the arugula salad as a side on my husbands plate. I had to get up and ask for our check after waiting over 20 minutes for John to come back. The bar tender ended up bringing our check. Went to try the creek brûlée cheesecake but didn’t order because the server never came back and I wasn’t going g to stay all night with no drinks and no service. Definitely won’t be driving back an hour and a half for that disappointment

3 /5 rebecca n-r: The service and the staff were outstanding. Tamas checked us in Friday 11/9/25. He was very nice, friendly, informative and pretty funny. Our experience at the Tasting Room was fun and our sommelier, Briget, was knowledgeable and friendly. She even bantered back and forth with us. (Were a fun group) Megan served us dinner the first night and breakfast our last morning. She was knowledgeable, friendly and accommodating. Daniel served us dinner on our 2nd night. He was great. He was very observant filling out glasses, taking our dishes when were finished, and always checking on us. The food was disappointing. At dinner the 1st night the Chicken Fried Steak was overcooked and óver-breaded and the Fettuccini Alfredo was was bland the sauce was thin and disappointing. I split the burger with my friend and noticed the next night that there was a $6 charge for split meals. The Parker was good but not worth the $6 charge. Saturday night we ate on the porch at the 290 restaurant. My husband ordered the Philly Cheesesteak. It was on 2 slices of Ciabatta bread w/ hard crusts. I ordered Cesar Salad. Once I cut up the 2 small "heads" of Romain lettuce, mixed in the Parm & Cherry tomatoes and the chicke, it was pretty good For breakfast we, once again are at the 290 Grill. Our order came ( over 30 minutes, minus) 1 (mine). My husbands egg over medium in the biscuit was over cooked, cold and hard. When I finally got my meal it was fine, just late. Our accomodations were very comfortable although in our town home, the bottom sheet was too short for the bed

5 /5 Maria Galvan: We Celebrated our granddaughters Birthday here, Dinner was unforgettable and our servers Madelyn and Kaylie were outstanding. Very attentive at our tables and amazing personality. Definitely, this is our place for now on. We will share with Family and Friends our Experienced here. In General AWESOME STAFF !!

4 /5 Dana Duckworth: We arrived at 6pm and inside and outside area looked available for seating. Literally only one seated table inside and a couple outside. The hostess said I’m sorry we don’t have availability -it will be 45 minutes to an hour wait. All tables are reserved. So we said ok and chose to leave but my mind was blown with the number of tables currently available and a minimum of a 45 minute wait so I decided to go to google and reserve a table. Put reservation in for 6:15 no problem, walked back up to same hostess and said we have a reservation for 6:15 and we were seated immediately. Mind absolutely blown. Does the owner know y’all are turning away business? Crazy!!!! So make a reservation and go!!! It was amazing once we were seated. Food is excellent, wine is good, beer is good, and the live music outside was phenomenal (Zak Webb) although I’m not sure that music was part of the restaurant. Make a reservation and go!
