emma lanier I chose Marais to coordinate a Meet and Greet to celebrate my husbands 85th birthday. The event was an absolute success. We used their room for private events and the space accommodated my guests comfortably and provided a beautiful backdrop for decorations and photos. I relied on my coordinators recommendations for appetizers and timing. The food was well prepared, beautifully presented and everything was fresh. There were two dedicated attendants, keeping tables cleared, glasses filled and guests happy. The celebration was intended to provide my husband and guests a memory they will always treasure. Marais delivered!

Cathy Dinh Upscale and so good! The service was excellent. The only thing missing was a full liquor bar. They do have a handful of wine cocktails. Totally worth the 30 minute drive from Killeen. My entire party said their pasta was probably the best theyve ever tasted. My Cioppino was full of flavor, seafood and fresh pappardelle pasta. Highly recommend this place if youre in the area.

Kcbourbonguy71 We went for a business dinner and it did not disappoint. We started with cocktails in the bar area. The service was quick and attentive. They served us bread to start and the cocktails were well made. I had a vodka dirty martini with blue cheese olives. Perfect! For dinner we did the seafood tower and the Signature Steakhouse Smorgasbord. The steaks were delicious and the porkchop was amazing. Paired with several delicious sides. I would definitely recommend a visit.

Brenners on the Bayou - Houston

Rating: 4.4 /5
Greg’s Local Guide to Houston Brenner’s on the Bayou — A Houston Original 1936. In a city that loves to bulldoze its history to build the next strip mall, Brenner’s is still standing. You feel that weight the moment you walk in. It’s not dusty. It’s confident. It’s the kind of place that hasn’t chased a trend in eighty years because it never needed to. We sat at a table overlooking the bayou. You don’t get the wide-open, postcard vista here. You get trees. You get shadows. You catch pieces of the sunset fighting through the branches. It’s a subtle kind of luxury. Most places shout for your attention; this view just lets you know it’s there. We started with the basics. Pellegrino. Lime. I asked to swap the tequila in the Dragon Fruit Margarita for Lalo—additive-free—and they didnt blink. That sets a tone. It tells you this is a bar that understands the difference between a drink and a cocktail. The food was a conversation between the past and the present. The bread? Forgettable. A missed note. But the oysters arrived in a rolling fog of dry ice. A little bit of theater, sure, but the brine underneath was real. The "Texas Kiss" shrimp did something shrimp shouldnt do—it made blue cheese work. I don’t usually like it. But tonight, I did. I went with the bone-in New York strip. It had that honest, heavy char. But my date’s skirt steak... that was the thief that stole the night. Served with German potatoes and an egg, it was deeply flavorful and impossibly tender. That plate didnt just feed you; it justified the drive. The service, however, was where the spell broke. Missed cues. A lack of polish on the menu knowledge. When the room is this assured, the stumbling stands out. It didn’t ruin the night, but it reminded us that perfection is a moving target. The Brenner family may be gone, but the bones of what they built are still here. It’s a classic steakhouse, comfortable in its own skin, unchanged in the ways that matter. We’d return. And really, that’s the only review that counts.

Samantha Jogoleff We visited to celebrate our anniversary after hearing so many great things about the food and views and quickly realized why it’s so highly recommended! The smell of the wood fire hits you as soon as you walk up, setting the tone and really getting you excited for the entire experience youre about have. The space is beautiful, and the patio offers incredible views! Plus the patio has coverage and heaters, so no biggie if it rains! The hostess greeted us right away, and Mariah, our server, was attentive and truly thoughtful throughout the night with great recommendations and surprises. The food was outstanding! Honestly, probably some of THE BEST weve enjoyed in Austin! The happy hour machete was MASSIVE, perfectly crispy and cheesy with an addicting side crema that I saved to use in case I wanted to pair with other food items, it was that good. Im typically not a huge mole person so I was hesitant on ordering anything with it, but heard they were known for their 800 day aged mole. I asked if it was possibly to try a small amount to see if that would be something wed enjoy and she brought out a sample to try and WOW! They do a savory style mole and it is JAW DROPPING! Creamy, luscious and definitely worth ordering! This is coming from someone who is not a mole person, well at least the sweet kind of mole. Now I know theres a better one out there! While I couldnt get over how incredible the mole was, we were dying to try their carne asada and the venison chops that they had on the menu, especially since you dont see venison often. The carne asada was well cooked and flavorful and came with a super cheesy chile relleno. but the venison double chops completely stole the show—exceptional tenderness, flavor, and execution. Their margaritas were excellent, especially the fact that you could make them spicy with their house-made pepper mix, where you can really taste the fresh jalapeños. They surprised us with a champagne toast and anniversary sweets (Fresh feeling strawberry ice cream and shortbread buttery confetti type cookies) that made the night feel extra special. We did follow that with a chocolate cake, that didnt feel like it would put you in a sugar coma and had a cherry guajillo puree that gave it a little spiced kick. Absolutely worth the drive and already on our list to return—especially for brunch and one of their mole dishes! They are a must stop in Austin!
