5 /5 Julie: Oh my goodness! My taste buds are doing a happy dance, haha. This is undoubtedly the best food in Lufkin, hands down. I don’t care who you are or what you think! It’s unbelievable that there aren’t cars lined up outside like there are for some of those other places that can’t even come close. This is definitely comfort food, and it tastes like a wonderful home-cooked meal.
5 /5 Alvin Jn baptiste: The Fried Catfish Dish was amazing, crispy, and fresh!!! I loved the crispy flaky fish especially! Not too salty but just right. The hot sauce was complementary with the fried fish. I got the moist dirty rice and the savory mashed potatoes. They had a peach mango beverage that was really good too ! I could see this as a treat for those dating to be married or already married (couple friendly) cozy atmosphere.
Thanks again!!! I’m sorry I did not take a photo! It smelled so good I lost my train of thought, I prayed and started eating!
5 /5 Susan Janke: We decided to give this little place a try today. We are "out of towners" but saw they had great reviews. They definitely did not disappoint! My husband and I ordered 2 dishes to share. One was the fried fish
It came with SEVEN pieces of fried catfish (there might have actually been more) and 2 sides (we got fries and dirty rice) and a roll. I forgot the name of the other dish, but it was something like Savvy Potatoes with sauteed shrimp and sausage, topped with bacon and Parmesan cheese. Everything was super delicious!! And the tartar sauce was the best we have ever had. It was almost like a mix between tartar sauce and aioli.
Just a note we were there on Sunday evening and there was only the walk up window, no seated dining. We took our order to the nearby zoo and ate in the car by the lake. There was only one young man working there so it was a bit of a wait for the order to be ready, but I felt like that also meant everything was being cooked fresh. It was definitely worth the wait and we will definitely go back when in Lufkin.
5 /5 Eric Hunter: Fantastic everything. The building is small and homey. They told us at the door that it requires reservation, but they allowed us in anyways. The room with the tables is nice and secluded. The woman taking our order was incredibly nice and thoroughly explained their menu. They are a 2 person team, but the food for 6 came out at a reasonable time and was excellent. The vibe is great, too. I would recommend calling and booking a table before hand, though. Just in case.
Lisa Munoz Spare Change is super cute! We now have a family arcade with really yummy food in Downtown Lockhart. From Duckpin Bowling to Ms. PacMan and old school pinball, this place is the perfect spot to enjoy some
Fun games and get some really good grub. I tried the veggie sandwich, pizza, tater tots and meatballs - all very good! Also, don’t miss the bathrooms, which have walls covered in vintage comic books! Super cute spot.
Jessica Nichols As full time RV’ers, we travel all over. We have been in South Texas for 3 weeks now. All the Mexican food has been pretty ‘hit and miss’. The food here has HONESTLY been the BEST! We come from New Mexico and expected GREAT Mexican food here in Harlingen, but couldn’t find it … until TODAY!!! WOW, and our Server, Pedro, SUPER nice and brought the food while it was still HOT!!! DO NOT MISS Provecho Y Salud!!! No regrets eating here!!!
Damilola Odusanya The food was amazing! It was my first time and I really didn’t have high expectations, but every meal I ordered was cooked to perfection. I especially loved the Rosemary refresher and the five spice steak. So good!
The waiters that attended to us were so kind, and they ensured that we enjoyed everything.
Julie Atkins Wow! I have no idea why this gem of a restaurant doesn’t have more stars. The atmosphere is a beautifully designed space. I love that the bar is not the center of everything. The staff almost made me forget I was still in Midland. They all went above and beyond with making sure our experience was one we wont forget. Lastly, the food and cocktails we ordered were perfectly seasoned and the perfect portion. Not too much that we were neither wasteful or uncomfortable because we had to have that last bite. However, every bite was full of flavor and was so delicious. I ordered the seafood enchiladas (menu calls it the proper name) They were incredible and the black beans and rice were also very good. My husband had a pork dish which he could not stop expressing how deliciously tender his meal was.
Too many eateries over salt, add MSG type additives or serve ridiculously huge amounts. Providencia is not the typical Midland fare. We will be back.
