When he arrived, someone greeted him, handed him a menu, and took his drink order. After receiving his beer, though, no one returned to take his food order. He ended up waiting an unusually long time with no follow-up from the staff. Eventually, he went up to the counter to pay and mentioned that no one had ever come back to take his order. That’s when he was told that, on certain days, the restaurant doesnt offer table service—but no one had informed him of that when he arrived.
As a result, he just sat there, waiting, without any idea that he needed to order at the counter.
