Hon Ramen - Bakersfield

Rating: 4.8 /5
Daisy Chachacha This was definitely one of the better ramen spots weve been to. The broth was so creamy and flavorful. The chasu was made perfectly. We ordered a few drinks and appetizers. The takoyaki was delicious and the chili oil they use for their pot stickers was so good! Music was a little loud. But overall service was very friendly and helpful

Charlene Larson Rotandi What a gem! We were looking for some seafood for our family, and were pleasantly surprised by the freshness and quality of the food! Also, great value and super hospitable staff. The fish and chips are generously portioned, and delicious. The grilled halibut with the corn risotto was excellent and devoured in no time. The fried brussel sprouts and calamari were appetizing and quickly enjoyed by all. The smoked beet and kale salad was scrumptious. We ended the meal with petite key lime pie in a mason jar which was “superb!” New chef and menu, an absolute must-go!

Mike Fein Fine dining does not get any better. This was close to absolute perfection. We arrived with reservations at their opening, and were promptly seated at my favorite location, a table in the back corner. A young man filled our water glasses without spilling a drop. Our server, Conner, recommended a wonderful Italian-produced Pino Grigio, which was light and fruity with a nice finish. There is not much better than a server who is like a sommelier. The wine list is quite diverse, and certainly adequate in reds, whites, and sparkles. We got warm, fresh bread, and breadsticks, while we contemplated the menu. The cuisine is strictly meat and pasta, no seafood, but there are many great choices. My wife got the outstanding Minestrone and the Lasagna Parmigian, our niece got the Ravioli de Radiccio, and I got the Escargot, and the Rack of Lamb. Pardon my lack of Italian language here. The escargot were large, in a tremendous traditional butter and garlic sauce, where the bread came in very handy. The lamb was perfectly cooked to order. I have never seen a lasagna presented like this before. All presentations were meticulous, as I am sure Chef Rafael demands. Dinner was nicely paced. While we were too stuffed to order off the homemade dessert menu, Conner did bring out some complimentary, lemony, wonderful Italian cookies. We were also greeted at our table by an elegant, gracious lady, Signora Mastro, who reminded me very much of Chef Andrea, former owner of the great New Orleans restaurant the bore his name for over 30 years. There is something about the Italian people, no matter where we go, that drives them to respect their tradition, and that seems to always make a difference. Signora Mastro is truly a culinary Maestro.

Gordon M. Visited on a random Wednesday morning for breakfast and took a seat on one of the two seat tables against the wall. A few other patrons sat along the counter eating and drinking coffee. The place was relaxed, dim, and lovely. The server was perfectly nice and I already had my order decided so in a flash I had a perfect iced tea and my ticket was in a ticket for a corned beef hash combo. The plate was delicious with big shreds of corned beef, properly cooked potatoes and onions, and the entire eggs Benedict alongside. On the Benedict the yolk was runny and every part of the dish was hot, seasoned, and hearty. The price was totally fair for what I got, walking out paying something like 25 bucks total and Id gladly return. Go here to fill up on classics a cut above.

Dave R Came in for dinner and was not disappointed. We enjoyed our caprese and the fired zucchini blossom appetizers. Pasta dishes were excellent and the lamb shank was nice and tender. Wine selection was good, with prices so suit different budgets. Saw another table order the cheese wheel pasta and had it prepared by their table which is very interesting and entertaining to watch. Will definitely be back when in the area.

El Rodeo - Fremont

Ed P High-quality ingredients, great flavors, generous portions, and reasonable prices make El Rodeo a sure thing. Service was prompt, and the entire staff repeatedly checked to see if everything was OK or if something else was needed. The Top Shelf Burrito was huge, and big enough to provide lunch the next day. The chicken fajitas were also excellent. On a Wednesday evening, the restaurant was about 3/4 full. On a Friday evening, the restaurant was very full, but the wait was only about 15 minutes at 7:30 pm. We liked it enough to return, and will go back again.
