The State - Riverside

Rating: 4.3 /5
A & B Life Adventures My wife and I choose on the restaurant, The State after walking around downtown Riverside. We were not disappointed. The service was excellent from the moment we walked in the door. Our server was very friendly and attentive. We noticed all the staff were respectful and provided great service. The drinks and the food came promptly. We ordered the chicken and steak, which was delicious. The entrees were flavorful, high quality and excellently prepared. The State had a great vibe with a nice bar area. It is a great place to come with any size group. We appreciate the great experience at The State. If you are looking for a superb place to eat in downtown Riverside, definitely check it out.

Bear & The Wren - San Luis Obispo

Rating: 4.7 /5
Derrick Bear & The Wren is a thoughtfully executed, handcrafted pizzeria tucked into downtown San Luis Obispo, offering a focused menu and a clear sense of identity from the moment you walk in. The large wood-fired pizza oven sits front and center, immediately establishing the tone of the space and reinforcing the restaurant’s commitment to craft and simplicity. The menu centers primarily on Detroit-style pizza—square slices with a thick, airy interior and a well-developed, crispy crust. This style is executed with care, striking a balance between indulgence and restraint. I ordered the standard pepperoni and sausage pizza, accompanied by a side of hot honey. The crust was notably fluffy while maintaining crisp edges, particularly where the cheese caramelized against the pan, creating a satisfying texture contrast. The sauce leaned slightly sweet with a tangy finish, complementing rather than overpowering the toppings. The addition of whipped ricotta on top was a smart and restrained choice, helping to bring the flavors together and adding a subtle richness without excess. The hot honey served as an optional enhancement, offering a gentle heat and sweetness that paired well with the savory elements of the pizza. To start, I ordered the Caesar salad, which was equally well considered. It was not over-dressed, allowing the freshness of the greens to come through, and the house-made croutons added both texture and flavor. The salad felt intentional rather than an afterthought, which is not always the case at pizza-focused establishments. Overall, Bear & The Wren delivers a cohesive and satisfying experience. The food is well-executed, the concept is clear, and the attention to detail—from the crust to the accompaniments—reflects a kitchen that understands its strengths. It is a strong addition to the downtown San Luis Obispo dining scene and a worthwhile stop for those seeking a well-crafted take on Detroit-style pizza.

Kabab City - Hanford

Elizabeth Gomez The food was amazing! Their spicy hummus was sooo good! I had the spicy chicken, my spouse had the garlic chicken wrap, and my friend had the chicken pasta. Everything was so delicious and the service was incredible! (Didn’t get a picture of the pasta or the spicy hummus) regardless everything was 10/10.

A PCH - Long Beach

Holly Qubain First time dining here. I kept seeing videos of the pot pies coming up on my social media and had to bring my dad and grandmother for their birthdays to try them. I made a reservation ahead of time and the person who took our reservation was very nice and informative. She took down all of our names and the occasion we were celebrating, also made note that we were interested in the homemade pot pies (pot pies are only served Mondays and Tuesdays at this particular location.) When we arrived the hostess welcomed us all in by name, making us feel special. We were seated promptly in the "outdoor" patio. Its completely covered with views of the boats and los alomitos bay. There were 2 birthday cards displayed on our table for both my dad and grandmother, signed by restaurant staff. Super thoughtful, even the menus said happy birthday at the top! Our server Justin was so friendly and nice! My dad and grandmother both ordered pot pies and I ordered the $40 lunch 3 course meal. We all enjoyed our meals. Afterwards they also served my dad and grandmother both a beautiful plate that said happy birthday written in chocolate with a scoop of ice cream and berries. I had closen the toasted marshmallow ice cream which was served with a warm Carmel sauce. It was soooo good! As we were leaving our server informed us about their free vintage photo booth in the bar area. Such a fun memorable way to end our meal together. The parking ended up costing $6 after we used the 90 free minutes upon arriving. I will definitely be returning for a beautiful cocktail and date night with my husband next!

The Heyday - Palm Springs

Ryleigh E This was my first time at The Heyday. I can’t say better things about this place! I’m a dirty Martini girl and honestly a little picky. When I say this was THE BEST martini I’ve ever had. I’m serious. Rachael is the most amazing bartender and Taylor had incredible service. Our burgers and fries were amazing. We’ll definitely be coming back!!!!!
