Heirloom a Modern Farmhouse - Huntington Beach

Rating: 4.5 /5
rated by maryam • food critic Heirloom Kitchen in Huntington is one of those places that makes you stop and smile from the moment you walk in. It has this modern rustic vibe, warm wood, open kitchen, and a real farmhouse feel that makes it feel like a little slice of Europe right here. You can actually see the chef working at the bar like it’s a performance, and the love and intention behind every dish really shines. We started with the Caesar salad, which isn’t your typical Caesar. It’s made with kale and arugula, with crunchy radish, pepitas, housemade croutons, and a creamy eggless dressing. The chicken breast on top was juicy and finished with chives—such a thoughtful take on a classic. The halibut was a standout for me, served with an Asian flavor profile and paired with Brussels sprouts, mushrooms, broccoli, green beans, crispy shallots, cilantro, and green onion—it was so balanced and bursting with flavor. The cauliflower came perfectly dressed and spiced, just the way we like it, and the shrimp curry appetizer might be one of the best curries I’ve had. The shrimp were enormous, the sauce was generous without being heavy, and the crispy shallots and fresh herbs on top pulled it all together. We ended with their crème brûlée, topped with blueberries and mint, the perfect sweet finish. What makes this place even more special are the people behind it. Meeting the mother and daughter who own it was such a treat—you can feel how much love they’ve poured into creating a space that feels like you’re eating Michelin-level food in someone’s home. And the service matched the food. Our server Timmy was warm, attentive, and genuinely cared about our experience. This is the kind of restaurant that makes you want to linger. Beautiful food, heartfelt service, and a vibe that feels welcoming and intentional. I can’t wait to come back.

Caffe Soleil - Salinas

Rating: 5 /5
Melanie D It was so delicious, I forgot to take a photo, haha. I got the Caprese Panini and all parts of the sandwich were spectacular. The mozzarella was cut thick and the tomatoes and basil were so fresh. The sourdough bread they use is also perfectly tangy with a nice softness. Irene, the owner, was there that day and was very kind and attentive. I dont come to the area very often, but I will make an effort to come more often now that Caffe Soleil opened! The shop beautifully decorated, but it is small. I recommend coming on a clear and mild day to enjoy their cute outdoor seating or planning to order takeout.

Tacos don Paco - Eureka

Allisen Souza Stopped by the Fortuna location today for a drive by lunch and quickly discovered that we have a new favorite spot for Mexican food. Best ever!! Everyone agreed that the meat and salsa had the tastiest flavor that we have had… it even beat some of the Bay Area bites that we have had recently. Top quality food and friendly quick service was a win for us. Highly recommend the Birra and the Al Pastor!

Lopez Huong (Karen Lopez) We had a delicious dinner here. The staff was so friendly to accommodate us and our child. We didnt have reservations on a Friday, but luckily they were able to seat us. We love the homemade bread with marscapone, double fried mushrooms, fried chicken and we added caviar, and the scallops. Also the cocktails are amazing! I hope they make a kids menu option someday. We definitely will come back soon! Love the ambiance too.

Focaccia - Fresno

Randall Gillispie We stopped by Focaccia and were blown away by the tri-tip sandwich—absolutely delicious! The flavors were bold and balanced, and the plating was immaculately done, and the fresh fruit was an added treat elevating the whole experience. The owners were incredibly kind and clearly cared deeply about the quality of the food. Their attention to detail and genuine hospitality made the visit feel personal and memorable. Only hiccup: my girlfriend received the wrong salad. Thankfully, it was still tasty, and she didn’t mind the mix-up. The music was a touch loud for our taste, but not enough to distract from the great food and ambiance. Overall, a heartfelt meal with just a couple of minor bumps. A must-stop if you love delicious food and warm service. We’ll definitely be back!

kawaljeet kaur Amazing family-friendly spot! The food was absolutely delicious with just the right amount of spice. We tried the butter chicken, chicken tikka masala, lamb tikka, chicken tikka, and a refreshing mango lassi—everything was cooked to perfection. The service was quick, the staff were warm and welcoming, and parking was super convenient. We were seated right away, and the cozy atmosphere (plus the pool table!) made the experience even better. Highly recommend this place for a great meal and a fun time!
