World Famous - (Near San Diego, CA)

5 /5 AnnaMarie Horning: Went as two couples for a weekend lunch. We started with the mimosa option and their Award winning World Famous lobster bisque with sherry. Do not skip this. It’s absolutely amazing! Everyone ordered a different menu item and they were all prepared to perfection! Very reasonably priced too! We chose a window seat in the outdoor covered patio area to enjoy people watching, in addition to our fabulous meal.

5 /5 Lloyd C: A quick brunch after a morning of surfing that satisfied and delivered. Not too busy when we were there so got seated right away with beautiful panoramic view of ocean, beach, surfers, etc. friendly service (our server Hannah was very nice) I ordered the açaí bowl which was phenomenal. I practically inhaled it. Bathroom situation was a little lackluster, awkward path to get there with one sink and paper towel dispenser that didn’t work at the time of our visit. Other than that however, everything was fabulous and we look forward to returning in the future.

5 /5 BSM: I was visiting San Diego for a couple of days and came across this gem right on Pacific Beach. Parking took a few minutes to find, but it wasn’t difficult at all since it was a weekday. I was greeted and seated promptly at a prime patio spot overlooking the beach and ocean—hard to beat that view. I ordered the seafood taco trio and was impressed with the portion size. The fish, calamari, and other seafood were generous, and everything tasted fresh. The veggies and salsa were especially good. As I usually do, I asked if they had fresh-squeezed juice. They had orange and a couple of other options, and I went with the orange—it was excellent. Service was top-notch throughout. I was checked on a few times without it feeling intrusive, and overall the pricing felt very fair for both the quality of food and the prime beachfront location. Definitely worth a visit if you’re in the area.

5 /5 Heather Anderson: We are regulars for a reason! The manager, Roxanne, is incredible! My parents have mobility issues and she ensures that we have a table that can accommodate them EVERY time we visit. The staff, especially Luz, are so helpful and friendly. The food is terrific but the people who work there make this a step above the rest! It’s why we always come back! The tacos are INCREDIBLE! You cannot go wrong with any menu option. You have a view of the ocean and boardwalk! People watchers will love this place!

3 /5 JT: A Mixed Bag on the Boardwalk My boyfriend and I were looking for a classic San Diego beach brunch and decided to try World Famous. We arrived around 10 am on a Sunday and were told the wait would be about 40 minutes. Luckily, we got a text that our table was ready in only 20 minutes, which was a pleasant surprise. We were seated outside in a shady spot, which was perfect since it was already getting hot. The one major drawback was the strict menu schedule. I have an egg allergy, so I was hoping to order from the lunch menu, but we were told the kitchen wouldnt start those orders for another 45 minutes. It would be great if they could be more flexible with allergies. When I was finally able to order, I got the fish and chips without the chips due to a potato allergy and chose a side salad instead. The fish was a bit heavy on the batter, but it was flavorful. The side salad was pretty standard, nothing special. A suggestion for the menu would be to offer sweet potato fries as an alternative for people with nightshade allergies. My boyfriend had a much better experience. He ordered the World Famous Wipeout and said the bacon was perfect and the pancakes were delicious. Our server was very sweet and attentive throughout our meal. The Drunken Mermaid cocktail was also a hit! We would consider going back, but next time we’ll aim to arrive closer to lunch service to avoid the wait for the kitchen to open the lunch menu. Overall, a nice spot with good service, but the menu constraints were a significant issue for my allergies.
