5 /5 Darrin Pelham: We had an excellent meal at Colleagues & Lovers in Savannah. The atmosphere is hip without trying too hard, and the two turntables spinning vinyl set a great tone right from the start.
The staff was outstanding—friendly, knowledgeable, and genuinely engaged. They checked in often enough to be attentive but never hovered. We had time to talk, think, and enjoy the meal, and their recommendations for drinks, appetizers, and entrées were spot on.
I started with a cocktail that included habanero spice (can’t remember the name), but it was fantastic—balanced heat, great flavor, and very well done. For an appetizer, I had the seared queso with salsa Verde, tomatoes, and pickled onions. The freshly baked bread that came with it was incredible and honestly deserves its own mention.
My wife started with the blue crab crostini, which also came with that same fresh bread, plus pickled onions, radish, lemon, and dill. There was a generous amount of crab, and the flavors were bright and perfectly balanced. She said she’d come back just for this dish alone.
For my entrée, I ordered the steak fajita sandwich. I’m not a fan of bell peppers, so I asked for them to be removed—there wasn’t a single one on the plate. The sandwich had fresh jalapeño slices, onions, cheddar cheese, spicy mayo, and that same outstanding bread. Easily one of the best sandwiches I’ve ever had.
My wife had the seared salmon with pappardelle pasta. The pasta was broad and thick, the salmon cooked perfectly, and the dish was excellent start to finish.
The initial noise level was very quiet, and as the place started to fill up, it got a little louder. There is a long central bar with tables on either end of the restaurant. There is plenty of room to have a quieter area if that is what you desire.
Great food, great staff, great vibe. We loved the entire experience and will absolutely be back.
