Cummare’s - Murphysboro

Rating: 4.6 /5
April Maggart Had Cummares in Murphysboro tonight and it left me wanting to return. Food is cooked hot and fresh to order, great flavor, and servings. We all had some to bring home! My husband had the bolagnaise, the baby had chicken and fries and I had the extremely yummy cheese tortellini with Alfredo sauce. Cannot wait to return

djolly6 Small town restaurants in the Midwest can be surprisingly good! You will know by how hard it is to get a place on Sat night! The menu is extensive. Of course beef and pork are king - slow-cooked prime rib, a variety of steak and pork chops. But lighter proteins - fish and chicken- are also plentiful. I had one of the specials- chicken bruschetta. Two 8 oz chicken cutlets with a delightful blend of mozzarella, peppers and spices. Mouthwatering! Sides included baked potato and grilled asparagus with a fresh crispy side salad. Everything was farm to table fresh and prepared wonderfully. Best grilled asparagus ever! We ended dinner with an amazing slice of homemade peach pie. Portions were so large that we took half home for another evening. Great experience in a classic Midwest restaurant!

The Breakroom Bar and Grill - Mattoon

Rating: 4.4 /5
Matthew Kremitzki We were told that The Breakroom had the best burgers in Mattoon/Charleston. Well, that’s almost correct. I will have to say they’re the best burgers in the State! The Roughneck burger was so good, juicy and flavorful! Not to mention, locally sourced beef too! And those fried pickles… well… I can brag about those like the burgers! If you want THE BEST burger in Illinois, you NEED to come here!

Obed & Isaacs Microbrewery - Springfield

Rating: 4.3 /5
Joe Lataille Beer was truly excellent and the menu was fun and creative... I wanted to try so many things. Service was friendly and attentive, but it also only moderately busy. The exterior of the building and history were cool and the bar area was nice enough. Other than that, the interior was pretty simple. Prices for beers on tap were fine, but there werent any pre-canned or bottled take-out options... only growlers and very large cans that are canned on demand. Location is fantastic in the heart of Springfield just around the corner from Lincolns home and a few minutes from the museum.

Cannovas Pizzeria - Galena

Rating: 4.4 /5
Miyagi Man This pizza was quite awesome, one of the best Ive had in a while. I had the Supreme no mushroom. We didnt know what to expect and it did not disappoint one bit. I guess theres a reason its been on Main Street, Galena for 30 years and around since 1921 in Freeport. Thin crust style with a bit of well done crust and undercarriage. We did a take out order but the restaurant has a very old school Italian vibe to it and was very cool.

Port Royal Gastropub - Decatur

Patrick Nance Go there for karaoke on Tuesdays and some days, Thursdays. Drink specials are pretty decent and the scene is pretty chill overall. The food is really good and the patio is absolutely fantastic for so many reasons. Definitely recommend for a local night out, damn good time 9.5/10 shots
