JR’S CHICKEN - Kankakee

Rating: 4.4 /5
Harry ONeil Best Mac Salad around, actually all their salads are good in general. Most of the menu is pretty good and the chicken is pretty tasty. My one complaint is with the website for ordering. For example the 2 piece breast snack description says it comes with one item but then it makes you pick two only to get there and it comes with none. Always check your orders before you leave. I really wish they would walk you thru the order as they bag it up. On more than one occasion Ive been missing items. Its not a big deal if you catch it there but if you get home it can be annoying and disappointing. Really good food and a good place to support.

Taco Bell - Tuscola

Rating: 3.3 /5
Tammy Bittner First time stopping at their particular Taco Bell. The store is very clean and the staff came RIGHT up to take out order. Bravo there. The bathrooms were clean. However, this is the smallest Nacho Bell grande I’ve ever received. The Chicken flatbread melt I ordered had only 3 small pieces of chicken, a small sprinkling of cheese and a ton of sauce. I know it is on the value menus, but I was thinking I’d be eating more then flatbread and sauce. yuck!!! This was a take out so I couldn’t go back to have them redo. I definitely would not recommend unless you check everything in your order before leaving.

Big Bills Sandwich Shop and Coffee Bar - Galena

Ginger Hoesly They dont upcharge you for a credit card so that alone is 5 stars. But for real, our lattes were delicious and the food was very good. Small menu, but theres enough on there that therell be something you like.

Wildeys Country Diner - Lacon

Rating: 4.5 /5
Amanda Barnett I’ve hosted multiple events at this restaurant, including two birthday parties, a Chamber of Commerce workshop, and a Christmas party, and every single time has been fantastic. The food is consistently delicious, the service is warm and attentive, and the pricing is refreshingly affordable. Whether it’s a casual gathering or a more formal event, they always deliver. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a reliable and welcoming spot to host a celebration, meeting, or want a great meal!

The Pizza Man - Effingham

Michelle This place is amazing!!! It was very busy but the staff remained friendly and worked diligently on each order. Very organized. We dont have anything like this in my home town unfortunately. The Italian sub was a bit salty but thick with meats. We drove over an hour to try this place....worth it.

QC Coffee and Pancake House - Rock Island

Joshua Daily QC must also mean Quality Control cause the food here was delectable. Waking up in the Quad Cities with no game plan and an empty stomach is what lead us to this fine destination. I was tasked with finding a place close to our hotel and this one sounded like what both Emily and I were craving. We got there a bit before 9am and were greeted with a 30-40 minute wait time. Since there probably would’ve been a wait time anywhere else, we gave them our name, number and headed back to the car to chill. Not even 15 minutes later, we got the call to come in and have some breakfast. Since we had time to kill in the car, we planned out our orders before we went back in so we were able to order right away. Emily got the Western Skillet and I got the Western Omelet. For how busy it was, the food took no more than 10 minutes to come out and it was a lot more than I was expecting. For an omelet, this thing must’ve had like 12 eggs in it. Same for Emily’s skillet, it was served in a bit pan and it was filled with so much food. One of the reasons we picked this place is because they are known for their cinnamon roll pancakes. Emily got some for her side and I cautioned her that since its a side pancake, it might be normal ones. Turns out, it was the normal ones but good god, the one bit I had of them was heavenly. Turns out, the whole meal was mostly divine. The omelet could’ve had a bit more flavor to it but a little bit of salt and pepper helped bring it to life. Emily really liked her food but found the ham in her skillet to be a bit too bland for her taste. The food here was super good and a great value for what you paid. On top of that, the entire staff was super friendly and professional and handled the breakfast crowd like veterans in spite of the young ages of the staff. As we drove around the Quad Cities the day before, I pointed out the million different pancake houses to Emily, so, its funny and fitting that we ended up going to one for breakfast the next day… and what a good one we selected. They must really like their pancakes up there. I might have to add a few of them to my list of places to check out next time we are up here.
