Steak ’n Shake - (Near Decatur, IL)

3 /5 Michael: Not as good as it used to be. Good shakes, but I dont like the wide straws for them. Excellent French fries. I miss the wait staff and China dishes, as well as a glass of water and malts.

1 /5 suz3nascar: Ive ordered thru DoorDash a few times without issue. Ordered a chili 5 way and received a regular chili Mac, with so much grease it about made me sick. I called the Mt Zion IL location to confirm it came from there, which it did. Manager said I needed to bring it back, as they dont deliver remakes. The whole point of ordering doordash was to not have to get out. By the time I took this back and get my correct order and returned home, it was 40 minutes. She didnt offer a discount or anything toward a future purchase. Just handed me my bag, said sorry, and walked away. I get that things happen. But how you respond as a manager to a customer leaves a lasting impression. I miss the old Steak N Shake where you could actually sit down and have somebody wait on you. Now, you get to place your order at a kiosk and pick it up at the window.

5 /5 Carl Johnson: I have had many meals at this steak and shake location at all hours of the day and I never had bad service. When I was on 3rd shift we frequently ate our meal here. The food has always been good, the restaurant has always been clean, and the parking lot is easy to get in and out of for being on a road with a divider in the middle.

5 /5 Coot Erstain: These guys are amazing! Lineup, the guy taking my order through the intercom, was explaining everything. I dont come here often, so that really helped. Food was tasty, hot and fresh. Good job guys keep it up!

1 /5 blake rowland: Buyer beware. went here at 10:30Pm and person who took the order was incredibly rude. We got to the window and he handed our order to the person that was in front of us. at this point the lady that got our order was behind us and she got out of her car and tried to hand the drive through worker our order and he told her to hand it to us. We asked him to remake it . The man refused to remake anything other than the fries and tried to convince us it would be fine. At this point we asked for a refund and he gave us more attitude. And huffed off to get the manager. They issued the refund and the manager offered to remake it we said okay.. They bring out the order and it was warm but then got our drinks wrong and we looked at the receipt and of course the drive through guy messed that up as well and gave a sweet tea instead of unsweet tea. I will never go back to this location and I hope all who reads this also rethink coming here. The only good thing I have to say was the manager was kind and helpful but that does that does not redeem the absolute incompetentce and attitude of the guy taking orders. Just because he would eat out of the trash that does not mean I would.
