Jonathon Kuzma Best BBQ place in the area! Great atmosphere with awesome views of the river. The food is phenomenal, especially the ribs and brisket, which were cooked perfectly. The cornbread is moist and so tasty, definitely one of the best sides on the menu. And the views of the Susquehanna River from up on the hill make the whole experience even better. Highly recommend!

The Barley Mow - West Reading

Rating: 4.6 /5
Jahanvi Gupta I recently visited Barley Mow again and was blown away by the quality of their dishes. The Avocado Toast was a standout dish, with a stunning presentation and a perfect balance of flavors. The acidity of the pickled onions balanced out the sweetness of the mushrooms, and the pesto oil added a light and fresh component to the dish. The eggs were deliciously creamy and fluffy, and the Cheddar Scram Sammie sandwich was a 9/10. This sandwich combines their signature fluffy eggs with gooey melted cheddar cheese to create an elevated egg salad sandwich. Overall, I would give Barley Mow a 10/10 for brunch and would definitely return every weekend if I could.

Kayla Price Very good, love the plantains and avocado. Hot dog was a little weird in the fried rice but everything tasted really good. Green hot sauce was so good. Garlic shrimp was good.

Iggy Deez After what felt like a long wait (the kind where expectations start creeping up), we finally made it inside—and honestly, it was worth every minute. From the moment you walk in, the ambiance grabs you. The atmosphere is lively but comfortable, with a really cool mix of people of all ages. The walls are covered with unique art that gives the place personality and makes you want to look around instead of staring at your phone while waiting for food. It felt welcoming, relaxed, and full of good energy. Our waitress deserves a shoutout right away—super friendly, always smiling, and genuinely happy to be there. That alone sets the tone for a great meal. Now let’s talk food. We started with the 1 lb Thai chili wings and… OOOOMMMGGG. These were next-level. Perfectly crispy skin, juicy meat, and that sweet-and-tangy chili sauce hit all the right notes. Easy 9/10. The buffalo cauliflower came next—nice crunch on the outside, decent flavor, but a bit mild for my taste buds. Solid 6/10. Then came the potato and Vermont cheddar pierogies. Soft, delicate dough stuffed with creamy potatoes and cheese, topped with caramelized onions that absolutely made the dish. Comfort food at its finest—9/10. The undisputed champion of the night was the Bee’s Backyard Burger. One bite and it was game over. Juicy beef, Cooper sharp cheese, caramelized onions—pure mouth euphoria. A flawless 10/10. And just when we thought it couldn’t get better, the chocolate bread pudding with vanilla ice cream sealed the deal. Warm, rich, indulgent—another 10/10 knockout. Parking can be a little tricky, so plan ahead—but I’ll gladly deal with that to come back and work my way through the rest of the menu. This place is absolutely worth a return visit.
