Madeira - Brownsville

Rating: 4.4 /5
Grove Craig (Broker at GRT Realty) My wife and I have gone to Madeira many times. It is a once or twice a year type of restaurant for our budget. Typically will save it for a celebration or some type of special occasion like a birthday. It is a little bit pricey, but the quality of the food and the atmosphere is reflected in the price. I have never had a bad or even mediocre meal at this place. Everything they serve from the cocktails, to the appetizers, to the salads, to the entrées, to the desserts is fantastic. You will spend a minimum of $40 a person at this location. But you will enjoy yourself. The atmosphere is very upscale and comfortable. It’s almost like communal dining because you are so close to the other guests and that can be fine or you can make sure they seat you away from that bench row so you’re not too close to other people. There’s also a very nice patio for the rare occasion that there are not mosquitoes or too much wind to sit outside and enjoy. All in all I give this place five stars for atmosphere, food and service. It is definitely the finest restaurant in Brownsville buy a long stretch. People come from all over the valley to eat here.

Trulucks Oceans Finest Seafood and Crab - Austin

Rating: 4.7 /5
Jobie Alcaraz For my 45th birthday dinner, my husband and I wanted to break away from our usual steak routine and indulge in some exceptional seafood, so we chose Truluck’s Austin—and it exceeded every expectation. We began with jumbo fresh stone crab claws, beautifully chilled and bursting with sweet, delicate flavor, paired alongside crispy, perfectly panko-crusted oysters that offered the ideal balance of crunch and tenderness. My husband warmed up with a velvety lobster bisque, rich and flavorful with just the right touch of creaminess. For my main course, I chose the miso-glazed sea bass, which arrived perfectly cooked with a glossy, caramelized glaze that imparted a subtle umami depth and melt-in-your-mouth texture. My husband went with the broiled salmon, which was tender, flaky, and seasoned just right. To elevate the meal, we added the truffle king crab butter—a decadently creamy, aromatic sauce that infused every bite with luxurious flavor. The highlight of the evening was the surprise complimentary baked Alaska—a stunning dessert with layers of warm cake, cold ice cream, and toasted meringue that was both theatrical and delicious. My husband’s chocolate malt cake, part of his course menu, was a perfect finish—rich, indulgent, and comforting. For drinks, he enjoyed a vibrant, fruity sangria while I sipped on a refreshing zero-proof berry patch cocktail, bursting with fresh berry flavors and a crisp finish—perfect complements to our meal. The elegant ambiance, attentive service, and thoughtfully crafted dishes combined to create an unforgettable birthday celebration. If you’re craving fresh, sophisticated seafood with a touch of luxury, Truluck’s Austin is a must-try .

The Palm - Downtown Houston - Houston

Rating: 4.4 /5
Zarina Sementelli I came to The Palm Downtown Houston for my birthday dinner, and it was an absolutely amazing experience. This is hands down one of the best steakhouses I’ve been to. The food, ambiance, and service were all exceptional. Everything we ordered was delicious, but I highly recommend the crab cakes and the lobster ravioli. Both were outstanding. For dessert, I had the chocolate cake, which was rich and delicious, and I also tried my friend’s carrot cake, which was just as good. The best part of the night, though, was our server Jesse. He was incredibly knowledgeable about the menu, very friendly, and extremely accommodating with all of our requests. He truly elevated the entire experience. Be sure to keep an eye out for their specialty drinks. Jesse recommended the Mrs. Claus specialty cocktail, and it was so good I ordered two. If you’re celebrating a special occasion or just want an amazing dining experience, The Palm is a must. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Uchiko Plano - Plano

Rating: 4.5 /5
Alysia I’m a longtime foodie fan of Uchi and all of the other restaurants associated with it so it was a treat to visit this new Uchiko! As usual, the food was spectacular. Service was on point - JP took care of us and he was exceptionally knowledgeable and charming. We felt very well cared for. Our sushi chef, Xaviar, was friendly and skilled with the knife - I really enjoyed watching him dishing up hand rolls and he chatted with us as much as possible as the evening got busier and busier on a Saturday night. We loved every dish we tried. We sampled some items from the happy hour menu, as well as the main menu, and we finished with a cheesecake that was mind blowing.

Melodie It was my first time coming here to celebrate my birthday with my husband, and it was such a beautiful and well-organized restaurant. They even put glitter on the table for a birthday touch. Such a cute gesture! Our server was very kind and attentive as well. I tried the king crab for the first time and it was absolutely delicious. Next time I would ask for regular melted butter instead of the citrus sour cream, only because the citrus can overpower the natural flavor of the crab, but thats personal preference. The crab itself was perfectly cooked and sweet. My Berry Patch zero-proof mocktail was refreshing and the flavors blended perfectly. I also highly recommend the lobster bisque. It’s rich, smooth, and full of flavor. It was the perfect appetizer. For dessert, they surprised us with a complimentary baked Alaska, and we also ordered their famous carrot cake, which is huge! We ended up taking the rest home. This is the perfect special occasion dining experience!
