8th Street Bistro - Yakima

Rating: 3.9 /5
H Adam (apexadam) We had a great experience for dinner at the 8th Street Grill located at the Holiday Inn downtown Yakima. I had the rib eye steak special with mashed potatoes and seasonal vegetables and complimentary clam chowder. My wife had the salmon. We found the food cooked perfectly and in excellent portions, matching any of the more popular restaurants in the area at 60% of the price. An actual bargain comparatively. The service was impeccable, caring, and enthusiastic. I actually liked the fact that each booth had its own TV that you could customize to your viewing and volume pleasure. It did not take away from a reasonable business casual ambience. If I had a critique, it would be that the vinyl upholstery booth was showing wear and cracking. Re-covering it with a restaurant grade fabric would fix that in a jiffy. This was a pleasant surprise considering the reviews. We took a risk and really enjoyed the fare.

Salt and Tomato - Cathlamet

Rating: 4.6 /5
Dawn ONeil Bravo Salt & Tomato …it’s been a long time coming and it’s clear that you’ve put a great deal of thought into what to offer and how to present it.. in this small community you cannot be everything to everybody and there is always going to be plenty of chatter. As for me, my husband and I loved our experience . It was a dazzling, late afternoon on a Sunday so the river sparkled and the stylish, contemporary space was roomy and casually glamorous.. And… it is right here in our charming marina in rural SW WA.. for now, we are still a hidden gem. We knew the food was served family style and even that has a special appeal .. Sharing food is refreshing ! The focaccia was golden and crisp outside and fluffy inside..7 decent sized yummy meatballs with red sauce made a perfect starter and the handmade kale pasta with a light lemony sauce and wild mushrooms was perfectly cooked, the bright crunch of microgreens on top was delightful . I would’ve liked a little more lemon but that’s just my preference..maybe some preserved lemon would elevate it a touch. Homemade honey gelato and tiramisu were glorious. I had a glass of red wine and it was a generous pour so even though it is a brewery you still have options. The staff is friendly and the service attentive without being pretentious. I want these guys to be successful in the food venture and they are worth traveling for, so turn into Cathlamet and make your way to the marina when you’re heading to the coast or back east toward I-5 ..You’ll remember it fondly and help our small local economy too.

Friendly Nettle - Port Townsend

Rating: 4.9 /5
Jered McMillan Since I found Friendly Nettle almost a year ago Ive developed a serious obsession with their Banh Mi. I consider myself an amatuer-connoisseur-quasi-ad hoc-expert on these amazing sandwiches and these are by far the best Ive had. If you havent had a Banh Mi this is the place to start. If you love these as much as I do stop reading this and go get one! Well done Friendly Nettle! I will continue to follow you around and eat your sandwiches until you stop making them.
