Karen Cooke A must try if you’re in SF. Perfect for a romantic date night or to catch up with friends. For starters we ordered the octopus appetizer and dip trio. For mains we got the whole fish and rack of lamb. Dessert we had the baklava and Greek coffee. Everything was amazing and can’t wait for my next time back.

Aubergine the restaurant at LAuberge Carmel - Carmel-By-The-Sea

Rating: 4.7 /5
JonLuca DeCaro Dining at Aubergine in Carmel is like stepping into a quietly luxurious world where every course is composed like a sonnet. With its two Michelin stars, the restaurant delivers on expectation - and then gracefully exceeds it. The meal unfolded like a well-structured symphony, but two dishes stole the show: a kinmedai prepared with a subtle hand that honored the fish’s natural richness with incredible texture, and a scallop course that was so delicate and well balanced it felt like a dream. Both exemplified the kitchen’s ability to balance restraint with imagination, and they were elevated by perfect seasoning and thoughtful accompaniments. Service was warm, intuitive, and never overbearing- precisely what you want at a place of this caliber. The pacing of the meal was relaxed but never languid, and the setting, understated and serene, reflected the food’s own quiet elegance. If there was a miss, it came from the cocktail program. While technically well-executed, the drinks all leaned into a similar taste profile that lacked range or surprise. It didn’t detract from the experience, but it was a noticeable gap in contrast to the creativity of the food. Still, Aubergine easily earns its 9.6/10. For anyone seeking an evening of precision, artistry, and grace by the sea, this is one of California’s most rewarding dining destinations.

Brandy Higgins This place was fantastic! They have $10 valet set up for parking that was worth it. They were attentive to my husbands food allergy and took extra care with our order. The food was great but they over cooked my steak which was a surprise and the only reason i would mark it down from 5 stars. I didnt bother mentioning it because it was still good. Im also sure they would have made it right had i asked but it was late and the kids had been up a while so time wasnt on our side. Beyond that - everything else was fantastic. We had a reservation but it looked like there were a number of open tables. The French onion soup was amazing! The drinks were strong and lovely! (See photos) The place was lively but upscale. We really did have a lovely time and would go back.

ezombiec86 What a great way to celebrate New Years Eve. Copleys curated a special menu to celebrate the New Years celebration. They created a menu with 6 starters and 7 Entrée with a Chefs Tiramisu. Our waiter Ray was very welcoming and attentive. The inside seating has a warm comfort feel. The tables were decorated with New Years festivities and we had a New Years hat and a tiara waiting for us to wear for an added fun of celebration. I was able to enjoy the Truffle Lobster & Sweet Corn Risotto and Charred Beef Filet & Lobster Tail with their Quicksand cocktail. Very delicious and flavorful. Risotto was tame starter but freshly made with delicious ingredients. The beef was prepared medium well and lobster was done perfectly with a scoop of a potato/lobster salad. Very fresh. My partner had the Seared Diver Scallops and Braised Prine Beef Shoert Ribs. All very delicious and flavorful. Scallops were well prepared. The Beef was very tender that it fell off the bone. So delicious. The cherry on top, pun intended, the Chefs Tiramisu was sweet and fresh. The chocolate was very good. A great way to end the meal. Cocktails and drinks were tasty and mixed well. Perfect balance to the food. Thank you to the staff for such a great experience. A zenful and unforgettable meal to end the year.

Cherie Brown I usually go for Power Hour and find the bar bites and drinks reasonable and delicious! I love the mini shrimp Louis, mini smash burgers, and the onion rings. We also go for special occasions to the dining area and usually they have specials for a meal for two like the tomahawk steak. Super tasty and tender. They make a special occasion extra special with a dessert. The dining area is darker ambiance and quieter. Unless very busy, it could be louder. The bar area is cozy with bar seating and high tables for 2 mostly. A few will seat more. A big outdoor covered area as well. Great for happy hour, after work meet ups, or special occasions.
