Acres Inn: The Back story Owner Jake Haag and front-of-house manager Darian have energized the corner of downtown Pontiac with a cool, unpretentious vibe that traces its roots to a coffee shop—but this place has gone full-throttle rogue into dinner territory. Known for inspirational hospitality and a kitchen that buzzes with energy, Acres Inn is expanding quickly, with menus that thoughtfully showcase locally sourced ingredients from heavy-hitting Central Illinois farms and dairies like Kilgus Farmstead, Chicken Feather Lane Farms, and Ropp Jersey Cheese. Local Ingredients, Punchy Menu Cheese Curds: Made with Ropp Jersey Cheese, these are as fresh and springy as they come. Pimento Cheese: Signature dish—creamy, bold, and designed to make you say "wow." Crispy Loaded Potatoes: Every bite pops with flavor, making a classic feel inventive. The mains set the benchmark for local sourcing: Acres Double Cheese Burger: Ground beef from Kilgus Farms, juicy and beautifully charred, layered with local cheese—this burger showcases what farm-sourced can really mean. Korean BBQ Chicken Sandwich: Chicken from Feather Lane Farms, transformed with kimchi, spice, and house-crisped bun—East Asian flavors meet Illinois farmstead freshness. 5 /5 Adam Cook: You know when you travel and you stop at that local restaurant that makes you wonder if you should move to the town just to eat there once a week? Well this is one of those restaurants. The food is fresh and you can tell it was made there. Along with the small town America feel, you cant find a better stop on route 66. Portion size was just right for those not wanting a heavy meal on your travels. This place needs to be added to the lists of stops on route 66. They also have a coffee shop and service breakfast if passing through early in the day.

5 /5 Aliyah Saycocie: I’m honestly so taken back!! I traveled from Chicago and met up with a friend. First, the atmosphere is amazing, it’s open and cozy and pleasantly aesthetic. Server was also great, communicated that the kitchen was behind but we honestly didn’t wait long for our food. Next, looking at the menu I was shocked by the prices… this spot is so affordable and reasonably priced. It may be because I’m from Chicago and the menu would’ve been double the price, so this place was just a yes for me. Most importantly, the FOOD. We got smash burgers and oh my they were great 10/10. Packed with so much flavor. You can tell it’s quality meat, cheese and down to the buns! Don’t get me started on the crispy potatoes!!!! Perfectly crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. Last, I had a blackberry margarita that was great. I just had one and left with the perfect buzz. If I ever visit town again, I will definitely be coming back :)

5 /5 Patrick Kelleher: First visit, very impressed. I had the Korean BBQ and fresh mozzarella cheese curds! And homade vanilla ice cream peach tea float. A hidden gem for me until today!
