Las Carretas Mexican Restaurant Gainesville - Gainesville

Rating: 4.9 /5
Ap V There’s a large amount of seating in this multilevel restaurant with very festive music and atmosphere. The drinks are huge. You have to try one of the margaritas. The salsa bar is great because everyone can tailor their meal to their own taste. The food was delicious, including the Pollo Acapulco and the shrimp and chicken fajitas. Service was a four star not a five star, but I think it’s because our waitress was just overwhelmed with the number of people in the restaurant. Still highly recommend!

Scott Toscano Dont overlook this place because its in a strip mall. I had the best piece of grouper in the past 10 days! Great service (Danielle) outdoor seating and reasonably priced.

Tom Rourke What a great place. The food was incredible. I had not ate such delicious food in a very long time. I got a big bonus there. Got to listen to BB King while there and got to spend time with Melissa. If you get the privelidge to be at one of her tables, you will make a new friend. Dont forget to get a great local beer. We will be back soon.

Anne Amor American Icon Brewing in Vero Beach is one of those places where the building alone already has your attention. Set in a historic power plant, it keeps the original industrial bones intact—high ceilings, natural light, and history on the walls to remind you this place existed long before craft beer was involved. A real win here is the space. Actual space. Inside, outside, grass you can walk on, air you can breathe. It’s refreshing to not be wedged into yet another strip mall where parking is a competitive sport. You can grab a beer, wander a bit, sit outside, or toss a bean bag like it’s a casual suggestion rather than an organized event. It weirdly reminded me of Minnesota—in the best way—where places had room to exist without shouting over traffic and neighboring businesses. The vibe is relaxed without trying too hard, the beer is solid, there’s a full kitchen, and you can enjoy all of it without feeling rushed or overstimulated. Bonus points for being dog-friendly—bringing Ellie along was a win, and she seemed perfectly content soaking in the scene. Also, as a Harley rider, the “motorcycle parking” sign did not go unnoticed. Small detail, but appreciated. Overall, it’s a place that lets you hang out instead of herding you in and out, which feels increasingly rare.

Debbie Hodge Great little local restaurant. I had the medium cheese burger and sweet potato fries, which was plenty and and then some. Then I had the banana pudding. Next time I will get the small burger so I can have more banana pudding. That banana pudding is delicious. The service is friendly and efficient. Carry cash because they do not accept credit cards.
